Today’s Motivation RISK TAKING FOR DUMMIES

RISK TAKING FOR DUMMIES

One that would have the fruit must climb the tree.
~Thomas Fuller (1608 - 1661), an English author,
churchman and historian.

“In the long run, we get no more than we have been
willing to risk giving.”
~Anonymous

Virgil, the greatest of the Roman Poets, wrote 2,000
years ago, Fortune sides with him who dares. It’s a
subtle way of saying those who stick their neck out
are the ones who make progress… become successful.

We take risks every day. It is a natural part of living.
Threats come at us from unsuspecting and from
obvious places. The difference between the masses
of regular people and the successful is their willing-
ness to face the ordinary risks and embrace the
exceptional risks.

Security can never depend on outside things and
circumstances. It only comes from within. Those
who reject taking risks to guard their security,
willingly live in cages, trapped by their own fears.
There is no freedom in security.

RISK - a poem

To laugh is to risk appearing the fool.
To weep is to risk appearing sentimental
To reach out for another is to risk involvement.
To expose feelings is to risk exposing your true self.
To place your dreams before a crowd is to risk ridicule.
To love is to risk not being loved in return.
To live is to risk dying.
To hope is to risk despair.
To go forward in the face of overwhelming odds is to risk failure
But to risk we must, because the greatest hazard in life is to risk nothing.
The person who risks nothing is one who does nothing, has nothing, is nothing.
He may avoid suffering and sorrows, but he cannot learn, feel, change, grow, or love.
Chained by his certitudes, he is a slave - he has forfeited his freedom.
Only a person who takes risks is FREE
