Today’s Motivation – In the Service of Others

Martin Luther King said, ““Everybody can be great...because anybody can serve. You don't have to have a college degree to serve. You don't have to make your subject and verb agree to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love.”

When you serve others your ego steps out of the way. You, not your past, not your experiences, nothing gets in the way of you being you. And, the results you produce are reflected as follows…

"You can have everything in life that you want if you will just help enough other people
get what they want."

Today’s Transformation –Breakthroughs from Breakdowns

Living causes problems. It’s inevitable. It's normal. Problems are things that we think “shouldn’t be.” Transformation occurs by using breakdowns as a path to what’s possible, to get out of our comfort zone, and to succeed in a new way. That’s how breakdowns lead to breakthroughs.

Today’s Transformation – Choice as a Tool

Life transforms when choices are made. Choice is a powerful tool for creation. When we choose, rather than decide, we author our lives in all situations. Deciding kills off the alternatives in an elimination process. Choice arises in possibility, free from the past.

Today’s Transformation – Language is Power

Language is a distinctly human gift. Commonly it is thought to give access to the world. It is a world to word, world to language relation. We don’t consider that our language gives definition to our world and that there might be an alternative context.

Language may in fact be what brings the world into being, a word to world relation. Consider that language, and listening, brings into existence our world and with that access to a powerful means of creation.

Today’s Transformation – Being Open

Transformation occurs in the willingness to see any situation from a point of view other than your own.

What prevents our transformation is never knowing too little. The problem is always "knowing" too much, and not being open to new experiences, perspectives, and gratitudes.

Mark Twain said much the same thing in his down-home style.

“It ain't what you don't know that gets you into trouble. It's what you know for sure that just ain't so.”

Today’s Transformation – Living Into the Past

So much of our lives are a variation on what has come before. We strive for more, better or different of what has come before.

Simply we have misfiled the past into our future. In other words, we drag what we know, the experiences we’ve had from the past as the things we know and put them into our future. Instead of leaving the past in the past we put it into our future to live into it wondering all the time why the past will not release us.

When you leave the past in the past you open the future to possibility.

Today’s Transformation – Identity Foundation

Who we see ourselves to be has been constructed from early childhood. From the very first incidence of “something is wrong here” or “this shouldn’t be” we created a set of characteristics to deal with world based upon a response to it. We have assembled a set of attributes, approaches and practices that provide a measure of success and we consider ourselves to be this.

This is natural and everyone does it. When this “survival” technique is recognized you have an opportunity to create, not from reacting to past experiences, but out of the realm of what’s possible.

Today’s Transformation – The Wolves Within

An old Grandfather said to his grandson, who came to him with anger at a friend who had done him an injustice, let me tell you a story.

I too, at times, have felt a great hate for those that have taken so much, with no sorrow for what they do. But hate wears you down, and does not hurt your enemy. It is like taking poison and wishing your enemy would die. I have struggled with these feelings many times. He continued, it is as if there are two wolves inside me. One is good and does no harm. He lives in harmony with all around him, and does not take offense when no offense was intended. He will only fight when it is right to do so, and in the right way.

But the other wolf, ah! He is full of anger. The littlest thing will set him into a fit of temper. He fights everyone, all the time, for no reason. He cannot think because his anger and hate are so great. It is helpless anger, for his anger will change nothing.

Sometimes, it is hard to live with these two wolves inside me, for both of them try to dominate my spirit. The boy looked intently into his Grandfather’s eyes and asked, which one wins, Grandfather? The Grandfather smiled and quietly said, the one I feed.

Today’s Transformation – Distinguishing

Distinguishing means to recognize something previously unrecognized. It means to bring to the forefront something that was undifferentiated. Distinguishing makes it possible to access areas that were previously inaccessible.

The best example of this is learning the balance to ride a bicycle. I can explain balance to you as best I can, but until you personally get on a bicycle and distinguish balance for yourself you’d never “get” if for yourself. Once you have balance you could hop on any bike and ride even if you hadn’t ridden for years.

Today’s Transformation – We Forgot

Oops, we forgot. It is the nature of being human to forget that we’ve made judgments and evaluations as we grew up and now live in that is reality. We constructed the world out of which we now operate. Our collection of characteristics, attributes and experiences is our reality.

When we understand that we were the ones who built this world and that we no longer need to be confined to living within it, freedom to express ourselves fully becomes available.

Transformation on!

Today’s Transformation – It Is As It Is

The world occurs to each of us from our own point of view. Regardless of that point of view certain things are just the way that they are. The sky is blue, the sun rises in the east and your mother is your mother. Nothing can be done to change these things accept your point of view about them.

Wishing and hoping that certain things were different; being mad they are the way that they are will lead to continuous upset. When one accepts the world is as it is, a space opens for creation and possibility, peace and tranquility.

Choose the way it is. Accept what you cannot change, work toward altering what you can.
